The Tarot
is a special pack of cards, seventy-eight in number, dating back to the
Middle Ages but still very popular for use in fortune-telling today. In
themselves the individual cards have a profound symbolism, and many of
them can be clearly related to astrology: the Empress, for instance, is
linked with the planet Venus, Judgment with the Zodiac sign Scorpio,
the Chariot with Sagittarius, and so forth.
The use of Tarot
to predict the future is entirely unsystematic. The cards are shuffled
and laid out, and these positions are meant to reveal the truth about
problems facing you.
